STRATEGIC PLAN - COMPETENCY

By June 2017, students at all grade levels will demonstrate mastery of core competencies and content through performance on common assessments, development of personal learning experiences, and presentations of their personal growth and learning to a variety of suitable audiences.

Year One Goal:
By June 2013, the Strategic Planning Competency group will research the instruction and assessment of competencies that are significant to citizenship, life-long learning, and the workplace, make a recommendation for a district framework of these critical competencies, and evaluate the use of common assessments to assess mastery of these skills.

Year Two Goal:
By June 2014, the Strategic Planning Competency Team will introduce the framework draft to staff and students and use their input to finalize the language.  Professional development opportunities and student assessments will be researched to prepare for a targeted pilot implementation in Year 3.

Year Three Goal:
By June 2015, components of the competency framework will be infused through the Health/Physical Education curriculum.  Staff members involved in the implementation will participate in professional development as needed.

Year Four Goal:
By June 2016, components of the competency framework will continue to be infused through the Physical Education/Health curricula and extended to other disciplines. Assessment of the competencies will be explored by both students and staff.
