Yantacaw Students Raise Money for the Lone Survivor Fund

Earlier in the year, Yantacaw first grade teacher, Ms. Diana Rambaldi, taught her students about respecting the flag and soldiers, and having a "Never Quit" attitude.  They specifically learned about a veteran, Marcus Luttrell, a SEAL for Operation Red Wings and author of the book Lone Survivor, which was later turned into a movie starring Mark Walhberg. “My students learned about how Marcus got lost and things seemed hopeless,” Ms. Rambaldi said. “He thought he may never see his family again, but he never gave up and he made it home.  We have adopted the "Team Never Quit" attitude in our classroom as well.  When the children feel they want to quit, we refer to our "Team Never Quit" wall and their attitude immediately changes.  The truly understand the sacrifice our servicemen and women make every day to keep us safe.”

Every November, Ms. Rambaldi tries to find a way for her students to give back to our Veterans and soldiers. This year, they are once again making bracelets to sell and all of the money raised will go to Marcus Luttrell's Lone Survivor Foundation.  The Lone Survivor Foundation's mission is to restore, empower, and renew hope for our wounded service members and their families through health, wellness, and therapeutic support.
