Choose a product, the more generally it is used the better. Examples might include computers (as opposed to just Dell or Apple computers), gasoline, automobiles, water, electricity, homes, telephone service, or a type of food (wheat, beef, coffee, etc.). Then, during each month of summer vacation, find articles (a minimum
of five total) about your product that somehow concern the price of the product. Note how various circumstances and events influence the price of your product. Suggested publications are The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist, web-based versions of these publications, or Internet news
services such as Reuters, Infobeat, or CBS Marketwatch.
Summarize each of these articles in a short paragraph, providing a copy of the article with your summary. Do your best to explain exactly why these events cause a change in the price of your product. Is there a common thread linking all of the articles or price changes?
