A gorilla is the largest of the apes. There are 3 kinds of gorillas, western lowland gorilla, the eastern lowland gorilla, and the mountain gorilla.A gorilla walks on all fours, using it’s knuckles and feet.

When a gorilla is excited it stands up and slams his chest with his fists. A gorilla is not fierce. It will only attack if it is being threatened or attacked. A gorilla can grow up to six feet tall.

Gorillas can weigh up to 390 pounds or more. Female gorillas are usually smaller than the male gorillas.Gorillas have no enemies except for human beings.

 

The gorillas homes lie in the rain forests in Africa near the equator. Some gorillas lives in the forests of Africa and some live in the mountains.

Gorillas are mostly herbivores which means they mostly eat plants. Occasionally they will eat ants and termites. An adult male gorilla can eat up to 50 pounds of food each day. They rarely drink water.Gorillas live in troops and they like to be together.

A big male is the leader and he is always one of the oldest. If anything scares the troop, the leader growls and cups his hands and beats his chest.
