The location of the Empire State Building is 350 Fifth Avenue, between 33rd and 34th streets, New York. It got its name from the nickname of the state of New York.

The construction of the Empire State Building began on March of 1930 and was completed in May of 1931.

The Empire State Building is 102 stories high and was the tallest building in the world until the World Trade Center was completed in 1972. The height of the Empire State Building is 1,472 feet (448 meters) to top of the atennae. It is 1,250 feet (391 meters) to 102nd floor observatory and1,050 feet (320 meters) to 86th floor observatory.

On Saturday July 28,1945 Lt.Colonel William Smith, a pilot of a U.S. Army B-25 bomber accidentally crashed into the Empire State Building at 9:45am and hit the north side of the Empire State Building.

Floodlights shine on the top of the building at night, in colors chosen to match seasonal and other events. sometimes it matches the colors of sports team that are playing home that evening.
