The 2008/2009 school year officially kicked-off for the fifth grade students and teachers. Mrs. Byrne, Mrs. Grella, Mrs. Nolasco, and Mrs. Martin comprise the fifth grade team for this year, and we were thrilled to meet the parents at back to school night.
The students have already plunged headlong into the curricula. From maps in social studies, cells in science, decision-making skills in health, novels in reading classes, musical instruments, and a plethora of other things, the fifth grade is in constant motion around the building.
Something new for the fifth graders is the change of teachers for Science, Social Studies, Health, Reading, and Math. These changes give the children a chance to interact with different adults, as well as exposing them to new arrays of classmates throughout the course of the day. With the new adult personalities and the different combinations of students in the groups, socialization skills really are getting a workout!
We probably are too busy to stop and talk, but if you want to meet us, you can look at the displays outside of our homerooms introducing ourselves. You also might want to look at the large bulletin board in our hallway. We are kick starting the year focusing on our goals, come see our fabulous soccer balls!!! |
