From the Principal

Our school is special because of our commitment to educating all children, a belief in happy children who are lifelong learners, a caring and outstanding staff, an excellent educational program and very supportive parents. As a school community working together on a shared vision, we strive to provide each child with a positive, safe, nurturing and academically challenging environment. Our core values are respect, responsibility, hard work, fun and good citizenship at home, school, and community.

Successful learning cannot be achieved without the commitment of outstanding teachers. Spring Garden School is fortunate to have a staff that is dedicated both to developing the excellence of our students, and of themselves as teaching professionals. Many staff members of Spring Garden School are clinical faculty members of Montclair State University. As clinical faculty members they mentor student teachers from Montclair State University. This is an opportunity for both the student teachers and the staff members to grow professionally.

With the support of Montclair State University, the staff has formed a Teacher Study Groups this school year. The teacher study group concentrates on the area of Character Education, focusing on the “Six Pillars of Character.” I am extremely proud of all the staff for all their hard work and continued professional development endeavors.

One of our goals is to keep the parents/guardians well informed. To accomplish this, teachers are available for conferences, parent newsletters are sent home by our PTO, regularly scheduled meetings are held and notices are sent home on a regular basis.

I am happy to have you with us this year and the Spring Garden School Staff want to assure you that we will do our best to help your child experience academic and social growth. With your help and cooperation, this will be an excellent school year.

Mrs. Rosemary Clerico
