JAZZ BAND

The Nutley High School Jazz Band is made up of 20 outstanding young musicians, under the direction of Mr. Maiello. These rising stars get the opportunity to play the roots of American popular music and also get to improvise over contemporary literature. These distinguished musicians were recognized by the Grammy Foundation in 2001 by being nominated as one of the outstanding young high school jazz ensembles in the nation.

Along with our outstanding program most of our students study privately. Some are also involved with the NJPAC Jazz for Teens program, Manhattan School of Music’s prep program or other outstanding extra curricular jazz programs.
