WHAT IS JOB SHADOWING?

Job shadowing is typically a part of career exploration at the early high school level. Companies providing shadowing experiences are committing an employee to permit a student to observe the employee performing work tasks. A student will follow the employee for one or more days depending on what your company feels comfortable about offering. Students are to observe the work assignments under normal, "real" conditions. The business mentors should lose very little productive time while the student is shadowing. A model shadowing experience will provide students with experience in and understanding of all aspects of the industry. This experience can help students select a career major for the latter part of high school.
