The Nutley Educational Foundation is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization established to provide alternative sources of funding for educational endeavors in the schools and community of Nutley. NEF was established in 2003, and has been re-organized and reinvigorated over the past 10 years. During that time, we have had numerous volunteers who have helped in specific areas of our organization who have now moved on and we need to fill these positions to be able to continue to serve our district and the community.

The mission of NEF is: To obtain and utilize alternative sources of funding for the Nutley Public School District, including facilities upgrading, curriculum development, instructional and professional development projects for the benefit of the Nutley Public School community and the Township of Nutley community.

At the beginning of every school year, we work with Nutley Family Service Bureau to raise funds for the “We’ve Got Your Back” initiative where we provide quality backpacks to our students in need.

Bi-annually, we sponsor Family Math Night for kindergarten through 6th graders; and the TREP$ program to encourage creativity and business entrepreneurs for our 4th to 8th grade students. We highlight our fiscal year (July through June) with Sip, Savour, Support, an evening of recognition and fund raising.

All year we strive to provide the necessary funding to create and enhance programs in Academics and the Arts for all 7 of Nutley’s schools, at each grade level. Our objective is to benefit as many students as possible with every grant. Over the past 10 years, NEF has added a greenhouse to Lincoln School, Sensory Pathways to Spring Garden and Radcliffe Schools, Sphero Mini Activity Kit to add to the STEM club at Washington School, sound equipment to JWMS; partnered with the Music Boosters to purchase percussion instruments for the middle and high school music programs; and we partnered with the Yantacaw PTO to provide wobble chairs to their classrooms; supported special education needs at the high school’s RIISE program; provided seed money to add a Fall Play at the high school; provided seed money to start the Nutley robotics program; and seed money to

enter all the elementary schools in Scripps Spelling Bee. We also provided pumpkins for Halloween to the Pre-school students.

In addition, we serve the community’s educational endeavors by recently providing funding so Partners for Peace could complete the UNITY sculpture at Yantacaw Park and bring Walls & Bridges, An Artist’s Expression to NHS. We also worked with the County to construct an Outdoor Classroom at Yantacaw Park to serve the school district and the community.

We support our teachers’ needs throughout the school year via the Learning Tree; a means to purchase items they “wish” for to aid classroom instruction.

If you are excited by any of these initiatives and would like to join our efforts, we invite you to respond to our Call to Action.

We hope to find interested people to volunteer to serve this organization who may also have skills/experience in the following specific areas:

Public Relations * Graphic Design * Finance & Accounting * Legal Assistance

Research & Development * Website and Facebook Maintenance

If you are interested in serving NEF, please email or call President Lorraine Kucinski at 201-618-3201 or LKucinski@nutleyeducationalfoundation.org.

We look forward to hearing from you!
