Radcliffe Elementary School
Radcliffe School houses approximately 330 students in grades Kindergarten through Sixth. The school community fosters an environment that is welcoming and supportive for students, parents, staff, and community members.
Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and caring environment where students will achieve success. Our school staff is experienced, bringing forth a wealth of subject area knowledge and a strong pedagogy allowing the best educational experiences for our students. Staff members met and planned on a regular basis to offer a consistent and cohesive educational program for the children of Nutley. During the past school year, our staff members worked collaboratively to create Common Language in the content area of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. We have met in collaborative study groups to develop a Common Language and implement the Common Language within the classrooms. Each new school year, the students’ knowledge of Common Language, applied in all subjects from the previous school year, will be assessed at the students’ new grade level by their teachers.
During the upcoming school year, our students will participate in a number of educational activities including our Computer Technology Curriculum program, which continues to provide our students with a wide range of application programs and websites, which correlate with subject matter disciplines. The past year our teachers and students utilized the Smart Boards, IPads, Chromebooks and Macbooks to further automate the learning process. Our Media/Library and classrooms continue to be fully wired and wireless allowing for Internet accessiblity. Mobile computer labs add to our programs. Critical thinking, problem-solving strategies, problem design, and the fundamental skills to support integrated instruction will continue to be included. These activities will afford our students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge base, while simultaneous meeting the needs of all learners.
Parents and community members play an integral role in the education of our students. Staff members are diligent in disseminating information through classroom newsletters, web postings, building reminders and notices. Radcliffe provides the opportunity for parents and community members to participate in school-based activities, by hosting numerous events. The School Parent-Teacher Organization provides valuable assistance to the students, staff, and administration. Through their organization of school programs, such as assemblies, book fairs, ice cream socials, dances, holiday boutiques, as well as providing monetary donations and supplies to the schools, the Radcliffe PTO continues to be a valuable asset to the overall school program.
The culture and climate at Radcliffe School cultivates a unique environment where staff, administrators, and parents continually strive to provide the best educational programs and opportunities for our students.
