About Yantacaw

Yantacaw School is located in a quiet suburban neighborhood, nestled among beautiful parks and charming residences.  Built in 1902, this school exemplifies the stately architecture of the turn of the 20th Century, yet inside, the classrooms are bustling with innovations and technology to instruct and inspire students of the 21st Century.

Yantacaw offers a comprehensive education to approximately 484 students from kindergarten through sixth grade.  In addition to a rigorous curriculum in the core subject areas, there are various activities to promote volunteerism and community service.  Student choral and instrumental groups perform at both school and town events, and students participate in additional district and community events such as science fairs and poster contests.

The Parent Teacher Organization dedicates a great amount of time and effort to provide social and cultural events that enhance the students' school experience.  This organization also lends its expertise in fundraising to offer assembly programs as well as extra supplies and equipment for the classrooms.

The experienced and dedicated staff of Yantacaw School continually pursue professional development opportunities to ensure that content and instruction are current and relevant.  Teachers collaborate on a regular basis to plan, share ideas, and provide an engaging and effective learning environment so that the students of Yantacaw develop confidence, resourcefulness, and a passion for learning.

As this building holds an important place in the history of Nutley, the students who work and play here are well prepared to hold an important place in the future.
