Principal's Message

Lorraine Restel

Welcome back, and Happy New Year!! I hope your holidays were filled with much happiness, relaxation, and the joy of spending time with family and friends. It hardly seems possible that we are approaching the midpoint of our school year! The students and teachers have been working very hard, and there is so much to accomplish before June is upon us.

January has some cold days, and that means your children should come to school dressed for the weather with warm, coats, hats and gloves. We plan on being outside during the lunch period for at least a little while as long as the weather permits. Please remind your child to bring their coats home every night. Strange as it may seem, our Lost and Found box is filled with some beautiful unclaimed coats that were left behind because the children removed them while playing.  Please visit our Lost and Found rack located by the auditorium to search for items that may belong to your child.  To make returns easier, please consider putting your child’s first name and grade on the inside tag.  We also have quite a collection of lunch boxes and even a few backpacks!

When the weather is extremely cold (below 32 degrees) or inclement, students may enter the building to wait for the start of the day.  Kindergarten, first and second graders will report to the cafeteria.  Students in grades 4-6 report to the auditorium.  Please be mindful of the fact that there is no staff supervision prior to 8:20 in the morning.  It is imperative that parents do not drop their children off or send them to school before this time.  Parents can drop off their students on Brown Street by pulling to the school side of the street by the curb. I try to be out there as often as possible to aid the children in getting out of the cars. Please look for an adult to help you, and pull to the curb on the school side of the street to avoid having anyone run between cars or cross in the middle of the block.

We are gearing up for this year’s Boosterthon Fun Run.  The pep rally for students will be held on January 17 with team huddles every day after that until the Fun Run on January 26.  Please gather up your family and friends for pledges.  We are looking to surpass last year’s goal and thank you in advance for any and all contributions.  Look for further information.

Again, thank you for the gift of your child. It is truly a pleasure for each of us to have the opportunity to work with you and your family for the education of your child.

Mrs. Restel
