NHS Tutoring and Academic Supports

 

Nutley High School offers a variety of tutoring and academic support services to fit your needs: 

 

NHS Volunteer Tutors

Please email NHS School Counseling Secretary Mrs. Mariel Pasquale mpasquale@nutleyschools.org to inquire. For parents that are requesting a tutor for their child, please fill out the NHS Volunteeer Tutoring Permission Slip (STUDENTS) below to provide the student's name, grade, and subject needed.  NHS students in the program will schedule free in person OR virtual tutoring on google meet for Middle School or Elementary School students. NHS tutors must also fill out a permission slip to be part of the program - complete the NHS Volunteer Tutoring Permission Slip (TUTORS) below and email it to mpasquale@nutleyschools.org.

Math Resource Room

The MRR is open every day during common lunch in Room 101.  A teacher from our Math Department will be there to offer extra help and answer questions.  No appointment needed! 

Writing Lab

The WL is open every day during common lunch in Room 215. A teacher from our English Department will be there to offer extra help with the writing process. No appointment needed! 

National Honor Society Student Tutors

This is a free service provided by student members of the National Honor Society.  Please see your School Counselor if you are interested in being paired up with a National Honor Society tutor in any subject and they will make arrangements for you and introduce you to your tutor.  

FLEX Academic Support Program

FLEX is an after school academic support program that runs from Monday-Thursday.  Students work in collaboration with their School Counselor to sign up for 1-4 days per week and can flex in and out of the program as needed. If you are interested in learning more about the program please reach out to your School Counselor or to Mrs. Julie Mitschow, Department Coordinator of World Language and ESL at jmitschow@nutleyschools.org 

World Language Honor Society Student Tutors

This is a free service provided by student members of the each World Language Honor Society - Spanish, Italian, and Latin. Students in the program will schedule free in person OR virtual tutoring on google meet for High School, Middle School or Elementary School students. Tutors and students must fill out a permission slip to be part of the program. Please email jmitschow@nutleyschools.org if you are interested in being paired up with a World Language Honor Society tutor in any of the languages offered.

Albert.io SAT/ACT Prep 

Use this online resource for free SAT/ACT prep, where you will find assignments listed by topic and get instant feedback to see if you are answering the practice questions correctly.   Students can visit the Albert.io website and login through google using their student email.

The Nutley School District serves approximately 4,100 students in Kindergarten through grade 12. The five elementary schools serve students K-6 and include Lincoln School, Radcliffe School, Spring Garden School, Washington School and Yantacaw School. John H. Walker Middle School serves students in grades 7-8 while Nutley High School addresses the needs of students in grades 9-12.
