NHS College and Career Planning

Our School Counselors work with each student and family to create individual goals for each student's future plans beyond high school, whether that be a four-year college, two-year college, trade school, military, career or other option.

Beginning in January, each Junior should make an appointment with their school counselor for their Junior Conference to discuss your individual plans.  Parent/guardian(s) are encouraged to attend.  Please call or email your counselor for an appointment.

Please click HERE to view the "Junior College Planning Workshop" presented by the NHS School Counseling Department on 1/4/23.  All Juniors and families should view this presentation before scheduling their Junior Conference with their counselor.

Naviance Family Connection offers innovative, easy-to-use web applications for high school students and their parents.  Family Connection helps guide students' academic and career choices, as well as provides them with opportunities for self-exploration.  Using the programs in Family Connection, students are able to link useful websites, surveys, and many relevant career and college topics.  This resource empowers them to learn about who they are, what they want to be, and how to get there.  High School Counselors and Seniors also utilize Naviance to submit college application materials.  Naviance is also utilized at John H. Walker Middle School. We believe it is important to provide our middle school students and families with the same tools and knowledge as our high school population when it comes to opportunities for self-exploration and college and career readiness.
