Welcome to Kindergarten Registration 2024-2025!

Please read all instructions carefully before beginning the registration process.

  Nutley Public Schools will be accepting registrations for the 2024-2025 kindergarten class starting February 23, 2024.  Children residing in the district shall be admitted to kindergarten provided the child will have attained the age of five years old on or before October 1, 2024.  This early kindergarten registration process helps the district identify students who are eligible for the program, and forecast kindergarten enrollment numbers.  The process can be completed online and via telephone.  A student’s home school is determined by their address.  However, if there is an exceptional volume of kindergarten registrations, there is no guarantee that your child will attend your home school.

  To register, parents should (1) print out and complete the Student Registration Packet, (2) complete the Online Pre-registration Form, and (3) submit the Student Registration Packet with enrollment documents via digital upload or Red Mail Box located in the front of John Walker Middle School.  

• (1) Student Registration Packet- Print and complete this packet. Be sure to complete all pages and sign where parent signatures are required.  Forms that are not signed where required will be rejected, delaying the registration.  Please follow the checklist in this packet to gather all necessary Registration Documentation. 

• (2) Online Pre-registration Form- Online Pre-registration will open February 26, 2024.  We are pleased to offer parents/guardians a secure, online web-based system to pre-register their child for school.  Please be sure to include all parents/guardians information, regardless of whether parents reside together.  Emergency contacts are important information, so please take a minute to add them into the system by clicking ‘add additional contact’ when prompted. After completing the Online Pre-Registration, an email will be generated with directions for document submission.  The email will be sent to the parent email address that you list in your pre-registration.

• (3) Digital Document Upload/Mailbox - Follow the digital upload directions in your email to submit your necessary documentation. Combine multiple page documents as a pdf prior to digital submissions.  Instead of digital upload, parents may choose to submit physical documents via Mailbox. The Red Mailbox is located in front of John Walker Middle School, 325 Franklin Avenue, from 8:00am-8:00pm Monday-Friday.  Be sure to put the documents in an envelope with your child’s name on it.  Please do not ring the school doorbell to hand in paperwork!

Kindergarten Registration Processing and In-Person Registration

We will begin processing kindergarten registrations on or about March 5th.  Parents will be contacted upon review of their child’s paperwork.  All registrations received by March 28th will be processed or returned for additional documentation by April 5th.

If you need further assistance with the kindergarten registration process, stop by our In-Person Kindergarten Registration.  We will be available to answer any questions, and accept kindergarten registrations on March 7, 2024 in John Walker Middle School cafeteria from 3:30pm- 7:00pm.  Please be sure to bring all required items listed on the Registration Checklist included in the Student Registration Packet, and complete the online pre-registration prior to coming to In-Person Registration.  Incomplete registrations will not be accepted.  Building access is available only via the WMS cafeteria entrance located off the south driveway of Walker Middle School.

Important Information for Current Nutley Public Schools’ Pre-K Parents

Any child that is a current Pre-K student within the Nutley Public Schools program, and will be 5 years old on or before October 1, 2024, does not have to complete the kindergarten registration process.  These students will be moved to their home school during the summer to begin kindergarten in September.
