At last night’s Board of Education meeting, the Board approved two new Supervisors to the district. Mr. Micheal Hanly and Mr. Michael Seeback will join the district this spring as Supervisor of Special Education and Supervisor of Science and Technology 7-12, respectively.

 

Mr. Hanly joins the district from East Hanover Public Schools, where he is currently a Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant, a role he has held since 2016. Prior to that, he was a Special Education teacher in Berkeley Heights. Mr. Hanly has a Bachelor’s and Master’s, both from Caldwell University. 

 

In his new role of Supervisor of Special Services, Mr. Hanly will provide leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the district’s comprehensive special services department. He will coordinate and supervise related activities. Mr. Hanly will develop plans for maintaining and improving special education programs, based on knowledge of research, current practice, national and state initiatives, student outcomes, and program evaluation.

 

In the role of Science and Technology Supervisor, Mr. Seeback will manage all aspects of the 7-12 Science and Technology programs including curriculum, assessment, instruction, evaluation, scheduling, state and federal reporting.  He will be responsible for the program review process and formulating and/or revising the curriculum and assessments in alignment with state standards and district goals. In addition, he will teach two science courses at NHS.

 

Mr. Seeback is currently a Science teacher in the Pequannock Public Schools. He has been part of their Allied Health Academy since 2023, teaching Anatomy and Physiology and Advanced Placement Biology. Prior to this, he was Head of School and Principal of Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, NJ. Mr. Seeback has both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Seton Hall University and is pursuing his doctorate from there as well.

The Nutley School District serves approximately 4,100 students in Kindergarten through grade 12. The five elementary schools serve students K-6 and include Lincoln School, Radcliffe School, Spring Garden School, Washington School and Yantacaw School. John H. Walker Middle School serves students in grades 7-8 while Nutley High School addresses the needs of students in grades 9-12.
