Dear  NHS Parents/Guardians and Students,

On behalf of the Nutley High School staff, I welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year.  We look forward to starting the year as well as sending off the 152nd Senior Class (of 2022) in June!

The first day of school will begin on September 7, 2021 at 8:05 AM (Zero Period will not meet on the first day).  On the 7th, we will be running a modified A-Day schedule with homeroom.  The bell schedule for the first day of school is attached to this email.  Also attached to this email, you will find the letter day calendar.

Please be advised that Nutley High is returning to its Rotating Drop Schedule.  For those who are not familiar with the rotating drop schedule, please watch the following video.  Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6NZvcocDOw

The doors will open daily at 7:45 AM.  All students will be required to wear a mask in order to enter the building (gaiters are not acceptable).  Freshmen and Sophomores are to enter from the cafeteria doors in the teacher’s parking lot.  Juniors and Seniors are to enter from the New Street doors closest to Franklin Avenue.  Upon entering the building, students are asked to proceed to their homerooms for their schedules and important information.  Homeroom information is available on the Parent/Student Portal.  In addition, please be advised that we are not issuing student lockers at this time.  Also, for the time being, students will not be changing for Physical Education classes and therefore are encouraged to wear athletic/comfortable footwear each day.

Lunch will be made available in our cafeteria starting on the first day of school.  As a reminder, NHS is an open campus and students are allowed to leave school grounds during the community lunch hour.  Any parent who does not want their child to leave school grounds must notify the main office in writing at nhsmainoffice@nutleyschools.org.

As we finalize updates to the Parent Student Handbook, we will send notification of its availability.  Please be sure to review this in order to become familiar with important procedures and policies.

Each student’s journey starts with a first step - let’s walk together this year to ensure their success!

Be Well, Talk Soon!
