August 11, 2022 - The Nutley Public School District has appointed five new district administrators this summer. Mrs. Brooke Benavides was named Principal of Lincoln School. Mrs. Jackie Devore was named Coordinator of Physical Education, Health and Wellness, K-12. Mr. Michael Gurrieri was named Coordinator of English Language Arts, K-12. Mr. Craig Jandoli was named Nutley High School Vice Principal. Mrs. Jenna Rubino was named Coordinator of Science, K-12.

 

Mrs. Benavides replaces Mrs. Lorraine Restel, who led Lincoln School as Principal for the past 16 years. Prior to taking on this role as principal, Mrs. Benavides was the Coordinator of English Language Arts for the district. She has served in this role since 2014.

 

Replacing Mrs. Benavides is Mr. Michael Gurrieri as Coordinator of English Language Arts, K-12. Mr. Gurrieri has been an English, theater and public speaking teacher at Nutley High School since 2015.

 

Mrs. Devore, formerly one of Nutley High School’s Vice Principals, takes on the new role of Coordinator of Physical Education, Health and Wellness K-12 for the district. Her role largely focuses on mental health, wellness and social/emotional learning.

 

Mr. Craig Jandoli takes on the role of one of the Nutley High School Vice Principals, replacing Mrs. Devore. Mr. Jandoli joins the district from Don Bosco and Hawthorne High School, where he held the roles of Assistant Principal, since 2016.

 

Mrs. Jenna Rubino was appointed Coordinator of Science, K-12. Mrs. Rubino has been a science teacher at John H. Walker Middle School since 2014. She replaces Mrs. Carly Johnson.

 

“It is exciting to be able to recommend and hire new administrators as well as develop meaningful roles on our team, focusing on health and wellness,” said Mr. Kent Bania, Superintendent of Schools. “We are fortunate to have been able to find and promote talented leaders from within our district as well as attract new, skilled professionals from other areas of the state. I am thrilled to be working with our administrative team as we prepare to welcome students back for the new school year.”

 

These new appointments all became effective this summer.

The Nutley School District serves approximately 4,100 students in Kindergarten through grade 12. The five elementary schools serve students K-6 and include Lincoln School, Radcliffe School, Spring Garden School, Washington School and Yantacaw School. John H. Walker Middle School serves students in grades 7-8 while Nutley High School addresses the needs of students in grades 9-12.
