Dear NHS Parents/Guardians and Students,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year.  As we begin in a virtual setting, I would like to take this opportunity to review some important information regarding the opening of school, scheduling and expectations.

As you may already know, we will start instruction in a fully virtual setting.  Different from last year’s virtual learning, in order to better meet the needs of students, we have transitioned to a synchronous virtual schedule.  This means that students will see their teachers virtually on a daily basis at a scheduled time.  Along with the rest of the administrative team at NHS, we have created a short video that explains the schedule, expectations and other important information.  We hope that you find it helpful!

Here is the Youtube video link: https://youtu.be/_bcmKvtPpYg

The first day of school will be on September 8th, 2020.  Period 1 will begin at 9:10 AM.  Students are asked to review their schedules in order to determine their class period order.  After reviewing the video, you will see that only four classes will meet daily.  On G days, classes 1-4 will meet.  On H days, classes 5-8 will meet.  Class periods will be 45 minutes in duration.  After lunch, which will occur from 12:22 PM-1:22 PM, teachers will provide open office hours through the end of the day at 2:53 PM.  Please review the attached scheduling worksheet as well as the letter day calendar in order to have a better understanding of the classes you will attend each day.

Teachers will provide the necessary links for the virtual class meetings on their Schoology pages.

In addition to the video and attachments, the complete student handbook as well as the addendum for the modified schedule and expectations will be made available on the NHS website by August 31, 2020.

Please do not hesitate to contact the administrative team with questions.

Looking forward to a productive year!
