As we move into Nutley Public Schools’ spring break, we are happy to share that COVID-19 cases in our schools and community remain low.

With decreased cases and hospitalizations across the country, the Nutley Public Schools will suspend the domestic travel quarantine advisory beginning immediately following spring break. The local health department is aware of this change in procedure.  Therefore, anyone who travels domestically, during spring break, does not have to quarantine upon return, regardless of vaccination status, unless you feel unwell.

If you travel outside of the United States, we ask that you continue to abide by the CDC International Travel guidance.

If conditions show a rise in transmission (as indicated by an increase in CDC COVID-19 community levels to moderate/high across the country), the district will return to the travel quarantine.

The Nutley Public Schools will continue to identify close contacts on a case by case basis, and will require unvaccinated (that are not “up to date”) close contacts, as well as household contacts, to quarantine following exposure.

The district will monitor and report school positives utilizing the dashboard, but will discontinue noticing large groups of students to check for signs and symptoms at the secondary level.  At this point, monitoring signs and symptoms are a part of daily routine, and we appreciate your vigilance preventing transmission through:

  • Wash hands frequently throughout the day.
  • Clean and disinfect areas of use frequently.
  • Ventilate with outside air whenever possible.
  • Wear a mask if you feel ill, or if coughing and sneezing persist.
  • Take a COVID test, and seek guidance from a health care professional if showing signs and symptoms. Covid testing is still available to the school community at NHS on Monday afternoon.

We hope that you enjoy this Spring Break, and take time to be with family and friends as we welcome in warmer weather and look forward to the end-of-school activities.

Have a restful break, and we will see you on Monday, April 25th!
