Dear Staff, Parents and Community,

It is hard to believe that when we return to school after next week’s Spring Break, it will be April 10th and the school year will be quickly winding down. The spring season always includes exciting activities such as National Honor Society, the Junior Olympics, spring concerts and of course, graduation.

I want to take this opportunity to communicate that pending no emergency school closures this spring, the last day of school for staff and students is scheduled for Monday, June 12, 2023.

Nutley High School Graduation will be held on Thursday, June 15th.

The JHWMS promotion ceremony will be held on Friday, June 9th at 9AM in the Park Oval.

Kindergarten ceremonies will be held on Thursday, June 8th. Times will be announced in the coming weeks.

Sixth grade moving up ceremonies will be held on Friday, June 9th. Times will be announced in the coming weeks.

PreSchool programs will have varying dates and times. Information will follow.

While I wish all of you a safe and healthy week off, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge this week’s school shooting in Nashville. Once again, we find ourselves, as a nation, mourning and questioning.

Please be reminded that the safety and security of our staff and students are our top priorities. Just this morning, we worked closely with the Nutley Police Department to respond to information provided to the district to keep our students and staff safe and secure.

This month, we completed the Yantacaw secure entrance. Now, all seven of our buildings have secure entrances as well as at least one safe schools resource officer on site. As always, please remember that if something does not look right or looks suspicious, please say something immediately.

Please enjoy next week with your families as we gather for holiday celebrations and togetherness.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kent Bania

Superintendent of Schools
