Dear Nutley Staff and Community,

The New Jersey Department of Education has assigned the district a State Monitor, effective May 6, 2024. Ms. Jeanette Makus met with the administration and was in the district today, May 7. Ms. Makus will assume fiscal control for the Nutley Public Schools.

Ms. Makus is a retired County Business Administrator, most recently working in the Passaic and Bergen County Executive Business Offices. She will work closely with the Superintendent and the Board of Education and will actively be in the district and at our Board of Education meetings moving forward.

We would like to welcome Ms. Makus to the Nutley community.

About

The Nutley School District serves approximately 4,100 students in Kindergarten through grade 12. The five elementary schools serve students K-6 and include Lincoln School, Radcliffe School, Spring Garden School, Washington School and Yantacaw School. John H. Walker Middle School serves students in grades 7-8 while Nutley High School addresses the needs of students in grades 9-12.
