Dear NHS Parents and Guardians,
As the school year gets underway, I would like to send out a reminder regarding medications. Please be advised that if your children have any medical conditions that require medications to be utilized during the school day (prescription or over the counter), they MUST have doctor’s orders for them. If the student is required to self-carry any medication (this ONLY INCLUDES inhalers, epi-pens, and insulin), they must have orders that stipulate they have been instructed on how to use them and are cleared to carry these with them. All other medications are stored in the nurse's office.
I am attaching all potential necessary forms. If this applies to your child/children, please have your physician fill out and stamp the appropriate form/s. Completed forms must be emailed to the nurse or dropped off to the greeter’s station with the medication. If it is an over the counter medication, it must be NEW and UNOPENED, otherwise we cannot accept it. Again, children ARE NOT permitted to carry around any kind of medication during the school day without a doctor’s order for it.
If your child has a food allergy, please remember that Nutley high school has an open lunch period and students often leave the building during that time. This means they may not be accessible to me and must have orders to self-carry their epi-pens. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any of this information, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Sarro at 973-661-8828 or via email at msarro@nutleyschools.org.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
