Dear Families, Staff, and Community Members,

Over the weekend, our community experienced a devastating fire that has deeply affected several of our students, families, and neighbors. Some families have lost their homes and many personal belongings, and our hearts are with all those impacted during this difficult time.

We have been humbled by the many messages from families, staff, and community members asking how they can help. In response, the District is working to support those in need and to ensure assistance is provided in a thoughtful and organized way.

Our buildings and PTOs are ready to support these families. If you are interested in donating, please let your building principal know, who will then direct you to the appropriate PTO contact. Over the course of the next few days/weeks, we will speak with the families as their needs develop. We would like to put plans in place to support them as we enter this holiday season.

In addition, if you or your family have been directly impacted by the fire and need support, please contact the principal at your child’s school, so we can connect you with available resources.

We are grateful for the compassion, generosity, and strength that define our community as well as the tireless efforts of our Nutley Fire Department.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Kent Bania, Superintendent of Schools
