UPDATE: The Middle School staff and students have returned to the building and the shelter-in-place has been lifted at NHS. All staff and students are safe. 

 
We would like to thank the Nutley Fire Department for their swift action this morning as well as the faculty and students at JHWMS for their outstanding response to the situation.

 

Please be advised that there was a small motor fire at the Middle School this morning. All staff and students have been evacuated at the building and NHS is in shelter-in-place until this is resolved. The Fire Department is on site.

The Nutley School District serves approximately 4,100 students in Kindergarten through grade 12. The five elementary schools serve students K-6 and include Lincoln School, Radcliffe School, Spring Garden School, Washington School and Yantacaw School. John H. Walker Middle School serves students in grades 7-8 while Nutley High School addresses the needs of students in grades 9-12.
