Greetings as we begin the 2026-2027 school year.  As always, our goal for this year is to ensure that there is a clear and consistent flow of information between parents/guardians and staff.  With this goal in mind, we strongly urge you to attend our annual Open House on Thursday, October 1, 2026, starting at 7:30 p.m.  Please note that zero period class will meet at 7:15 p.m. and Freshman/New to NHS Parents will meet at 6:30 pm.

Also, note that on the afternoon of our Open House students will be dismissed at 1:53 p.m.

Attention Freshman/New to NHS Parents:  There will be a Freshman/New to NHS Parent Orientation in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m.  At that time, we will introduce you to our school, its programs, student/parent activities, and support services.  We urge you to attend so that your child’s transition to high school is a facilitated and worthwhile experience.

Open House will officially begin at 7:30 pm. You will report to your child’s First Class (Class 1) and follow the F Day schedule.  When you access your child’s schedule on the parent portal you will be able to see the F day schedule, which is a list of classes in class order (classes 1-8).  Each instructor will outline the course work during a seven minute class period.  Five minutes will be allowed for passing from one class to the next.  Please either print your child’s schedule from the parent portal or have your child fill out his or her F Day schedule on the attached form for your use on the evening of Open House.

Annual dues for PTO will be collected during the evening. Attached is a letter from the PTO executives to introduce themselves to the family at NHS.  The dues, which are $20.00 per family, defray expenses and permit contributions to scholarship funds for our students.  If you are unable to attend, but still wish to support the Nutley High School PTO, please join and pay your membership dues online at:  https://nhs.ptboard.com (school code 7BYREA). Thank you in advance for your support.

Do not park in the Teachers Parking Lot or on New Street.  Parking is at a premium, so use the municipal lot and allow sufficient time to park.
