Some of my clinical duties as a school nurse are administering medications daily and as needed, providing first aid, monitoring students' health throughout the year, performing health screenings for vision, hearing, height, weight and scoliosis, as well as generate and monitor individual child health records and needs during the school year. I provide health-related training to our staff and educate the children on dental care, hand washing, body safety and growth and puberty for our older students. I assist parents by referring students to healthcare providers or resources as needed.
About me and my nursing career: I have been a nurse for almost 35 years and have worked as a certified school nurse for 20 of those years encompassing grade levels from preschool through high school. My nursing background spans OB/GYN care at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, occupational and community health nursing, home care patient education, maternal-fetal medicine, and hospital perinatal coordination. I have also served in summer camps and special needs ESY roles.I live in Nutley, where my two sons attended K-12. I am grateful to support the health and wellness of Radcliffe School students on a daily basis.
